Community Outreach at The Out of the Darkness Walk in State College PA

On October 5, 2025, the Social Justice Advocacy Coalition (SJAC) hosted a community outreach table at Tudek Park in State College during the Out of the Darkness Walk from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

SJAC members engaged with participants to discuss disability rights and equity across education, health care, and community services. Volunteers distributed informational one-pagers highlighting current federal and state issues affecting programs such as Medicaid, Home- and Community-Based Services (HCBS), SNAP, and the U.S. Department of Education.

A key feature of the event was our “Your Voice Matters” message board, which invited participants to share messages of hope, advocacy, and solidarity for individuals and families affected by disability and mental health challenges.

This initiative fostered dialogue around inclusion, access, and equity while connecting community members to SJAC’s broader mission of protecting fundamental rights and promoting meaningful participation for all.
