SJAC Participation in Altoona Pride Festival

In November of 2025, SJAC participated in the Altoona Pride Festival, engaging with community members on several critical topics. The discussions focused on:

• Preserving Medicaid: Highlighting the importance of maintaining access to healthcare for vulnerable populations.

• SNAP Changes: Addressing the implications of changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), particularly regarding able-bodied work requirements and age restrictions.

• Community-Based Waiver Supports: Providing information on available supports, the existing waitlist, and the campaign to end the waitlist.

• US Department of Education: Discussing educational resources and support available through federal initiatives.

This event served as a platform for advocacy and community engagement, emphasizing the importance of these issues in the lives of many individuals and families.
